Work Parties

We have work parties--usually on the fourth Saturday of every month. Ordinarily, volunteers meet at 9 a.m. in the parking lot of the Congregational Church near the Canton Center General Store, proceed from there to the property or trail needing attention, and work until noon. It may be marking, clearing and improving trails and their surroundings. It may be recovering meadow habitat by removing encroaching trees or clearing brush. Or it may be removing undesirable invasive plants. We supply any necessary special equipment. Bring tools from home that you are comfortable working with, such as saws, loppers, clippers. Always bring work gloves.

Work? Well, to watch us you might think we're having fun. Be prepared to converse. Don't hesitate to bring family and friends.

Members may list their names on the Work Party email list to be reminded monthly of plans for the upcoming session. If you wish to be added to the email list, contact Drew Stone at drew.stone@post.harvard.edu . If you don't use email, you may call him at 693-4350. If you can't make a scheduled event, but are looking for a small project to do on your own, let Drew know that, too.
