Trail map.

Location: This trail is a linear trail, not a loop, and may be accessed from either end. To reach the southern end, travel north from Route 44 on Route 179 (Cherry Brook Road). Shortly after passing Canton Center, turn left onto Barbourtown Road (which about one mile in, at the first stop sign, makes a left turn). Proceed to the fork with Breezy Hill Road and take Breezy Hill Road (left) for another 0.4 miles. Where the pavement ends, there is a parking area on the right. This is the southern trail head for the Ted Wright Trail. The Capen Cabin is also here, to the right side of the trail head a couple of hundred yards into the woods.

To get to the northern trail head, go to the Smith Tree Farm at 53 Doyle Road (see The Charlotte Craig Trail): Coming from North Canton on Wright Road, turn left (southwest) onto Doyle Road (not paved all the way to the Farm). Follow the road one-half mile. The Smith Tree Farm is on the right side at the point the old road gets daunting and provides opportunity to turn around. Looking into the driveway, you will see a brown barn about 100 feet in, with a white farmhouse to the left. Enter the driveway and park on the right. The farmhouse is leased as a private residence, so please be respectful of our tenant's privacy. Walk further down Doyle Road 1/4 mile and turn left just after crossing the creek.

The Ted Wright Trail crosses: on the southern end, parcels donated to the CLCT in 1985 by Thomas Perry (inventoried on the Lands page of this website as "Perry, T., 85-1 & 85-2"); on the northern end a parcel donated in 1975 by Wilson Smith ("Smith 75-1"); and in the middle on a parcel once owned by Hatinen and others (the "Hatinen" parcel).

The owner of the Hatinen parcel has granted to CLCT an easement across the Hatinen parcel so that the CLCT may maintain and use the trail connecting CLCT's Perry and Smith parcels. Please DO NOT STRAY OFF THE TRAIL in the Hatinen area.

Portions of the Perry parcel are leased to Ski Sundown.
